It’s impossible to believe, but the website was up overnight under heavy load. Nearly 5,000 visitors yesterday and over 3,000 so far today — yay! Jared has been working very hard to fix all the problems we’ve been riddled with over the past few weeks. He’s also moving us to a faster server, but it’s beginning to seem now like it isn’t really necessary.
But of course, I’m expecting to experience higher loads with the new site…. it’s probably best to be prepared.
For the first time in several months I began adding new clipart from my inbox. I’ve got around 200 to add, I guess. Probably 50 hours of work. I also have to write the custom pages for the content types and main section splash pages. Plus I need to change the site template away from the Christmas version. Jared’s got to write code to convert the old YW lessons stuff over to Drupal, and I *think* that’s the last of it.
I’ve changed LDS Grand to a new template and added the new products Jillyne has been entering. Also updated products and weights on CTR-Ring.com for Feliza. I got so much done yesterday and the day before that I am really on a high. What a relief it is to feel productive!
I’ve now had my first comment, blog post, and document posted here at Mormon Share, but the file was missing from the node. I deleted it, and then it occurred to me I should have contacted the author to ask for the file…. whoops. The add content forms are just not idiot-proof enough yet. I don’t know if it’ll be easier to write code to make them better or just make a Youtube video with instructions…
Today I’m making VT changes, preparing to do orders from the Bishop’s storehouse, and planning a lesson (we’re combining with the Elders tomorrow). I STILL have Christmas gifts to deliver, and Jared’s friend Paul is having us over for supper. I’m getting a headache. This kind of stuff could drive a woman to drink :). It’s a blessing to work with such hardworking, committed people, though. I love the associations I get to have through the church.
Jared and I went to a movie last night for the first time in a looooooooooong time. I felt bad for him; for the first time in the 11 years we’ve been married, he had set up a babysitter by himself to surprise me — but the beans got spilled. He was disappointed, but we had a good time anyway. We saw Yes, Man, which was the best Jim Carey movie I’ve ever seen. There were parts of it that were really funny, actually. The Mormon missionary thing was pretty cute. The language was, uh, not for the kids, however. (I’m not righteous enough to get completely turned off by that, I guess.)
I’m gonna go watch some TV or play a game with the kids. I think they’re feeling neglected. And they have been……
…. on my way to repent.
